Project Description:
This project consists of Consisting of 24 Polycrystalline, 230 Watt, CSG Photovoltaic Solar Panels on the roof of the Medina Residence in Gypsum, Colorado. These panels produce 5,530 Watts, or 5.5 kW, of DC electricity every hour.
Utilizing microinverter technology by Enphase Energy, and Unirack’s SolarMount railing system, the installation took a single afternoon, four hours to be exact. The system design took two weeks, expedited by having accurate architectural drawings available. Once the system design was complete, it was submitted for permitting and the panels were shipped.
Financials:
This renewable energy project benefitted from the following incentives: • The federal government covered 30% of the total system cost as tax credits. • The 10 Million Solar Roofs and 10 Million Gallons of Solar Water Heating Act of 2010 offered up to $1.75 per watt. • The state of Colorado omitted sales tax on green projects. • The GEO Fund of Colorado, covered an additional 20-30% off of the project’s cost. • The local utility company, Holy Cross, offered cash back for green projects, paying $1.00 per watt installed.
